A new technology will come to our homes in the new future, the “TeraDisc”, a CD disk with the capacity to storage 1 Terabyte of information, (1Tb = 1,000 Gb). This technology makes Blue-ray’s (50 Gb) look tiny.

This technology is possible by employing 200 5Gb layers, each one only five microns apart. Prototypes already been made 800 Gb of data, and Mempile, the Israeli company who developed this technology, says it will crack the 1 Tb barrier before moving on to build 5 Tb blue laser disks. Mempile says that this TeraDisc have lifespan of 50 years and could be on sale in two or three years.

On a TeraDisc you could store:
