The new sidebar in Windows Vista provides the opportunity to run various gadgets. Windows Vista ships with a simple CPU and Memory usage gadget, however, there are many more gadgets out there that are much more useful and help you monitor almost every aspect of Windows and your PC.
System Control
System Control is much more than your average shutdown gadget. Aside from the normal Shutdown, Restart, Lock, and Sleep / Hibernate, we give you Switch User, Log Off, Task Manager, Run Window, and Command Prompt. All of those buttons can be re-ordered or disabled / enabled.
Application Launcher
You can add applications to the Launcher by Dragging and Dropping or use settings. In settings you can reorder the applications using the arrows, add or delete them. You can drag and drop folders or drives from My Computer.
Folder Slice

Drag a drive or folder into FolderSlice to see a detailed breakdown of exactly how the space on your drive is distributed. Quickly locate large directories and explore your system with this useful utility.
Wireless Network
This gadget displays your wireless network’s current status and details, such as the Connection Status, SSID, Signal Strength and Security Status. When opened, the gadget displays the SSID and Signal Strength. Click on the SSID to open the details fly out for all the network details.
World Clock

A revival of the World Clock gadget.
